Dear Berkeley SDA Church:  Thank you for having my son, Austin Scarpino, and the Sunset Lake Camp Roadtrip group, hosted to stay overnight and attend Sabbath service with you all just yesterday, August 7th.  As a fairly new baptized Adventist family (2007!), we are overjoyed at the support and love displayed amongst the Adventist Christian community across the USA.  It is impressive, and shows a true unity of Jesus' remnant church. 

This being said, I'm sure anyone can understand our shock and sadness that my son's wallet and his sister's camera were stolen from inside his backpack while it was stored away down in the church basement during Sabbath serivce.  Thank you to Lucien for assisting in filing a police report so promptly.  What a blessing you are to my family! 

My son Austin is learning a very painful lesson that most people must go through--having your personal items stolen from you when you should have had them with you instead of kept with your gear in a basement in a public place--even a church, sadly!

From a mother's heart, from my husband, Tony, from my kids, Austin, Daniela & Sara:   please make a church announcement that whomever stole the wallet and camera, please, PLEASE return them anonymously to the church. We do not want to press charges, we just want the items returned.  Austin's wallet has some very personal, precious pictures in it that cannot be replaced. He has other personal items from friends that cannot be replaced.  His driver's license returned would be appreciated.  We do not care about his bank card anymore.  Fraudulent charges showed up on it yesterday in Berkeley and Oakland which caused the card to be shut off, and we are so glad our bank is returning the stolen money to Austin's account.  But the wallet and sister Daniela's camera are so missed!!

Please, Mr. or Miss Thief, whomever you are, we forgive you and we are sorry you stole from us, but please have pity and return the w
